Neutrino Group, Institute of Particle and Nuclear Studies (IPNS), High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK) hosts the the accelerator based long baseline neutrino experiment which provides knowledge on the neutrino mass and mixing. Currently, the T2K experiment, whose primary aim is to discover muon neutrino to electron neutrino conversion phenomenon, is being conducted. The T2K experiment has announced the discovery of above neutrino conversion phenomenon in 2013. From 2014, the T2K experiment is investigating the difference between neutrino and anti-neutrino by measuring the neutrino oscillation phenomena precisely. Our mission is producing the high intensity neutrino/anti-neutrino beam that enables to investigate the properties of the neutrino precisely.
KEK IPNS neutrino group constructs and operating the High intensity proton accelerator facility, J-PARC, at Tokai-site with the international collaboration with other universities and research institutions. Improvement of the neutrino beam is one of the main research topic of our group.
For detailTokai-to-Kamioka long base-line neutrino oscillation (T2K) is investigating the property change of the neutrinos produced at J-PARC during the 300km propagation to Super-Kamiokande. KEK IPNS conduct T2K experiment as the host institute with ICRR, the university of Tokyo.
For DetailSuper-Kamiokande (SK) is the water cherenkov detector using 50 kton pure water. SK can detect not only the neutrino produced at J-PARC, but also the natural neutrino produced at Sun, Super-nova, Atmosphere, etc. The search for the decay of the protons is also performed.

From 1998 to 2003, the first long base-line neutrino oscillation experiment, K2K, was performed using the Super-Kamiokande and the neutrino beam that is produced with 12GeV proton accelerator .
For detailThe NA61/SHINE experiment measures the hadron production by proton - carbon interaction at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). Its results are used to estimate the neutrino beam flux.
