Linux OS Installation

  • Linux Distrubution : CentOS 5.5 x86_64
  • Way of Install : Using DVD image
  • Set DVD booting in BIOS setting
  • Set DVD image and power on the machine, then CentOS installation begins.
  1. Choose a Language : English
  2. Keyboard Type : jp106
  3. Format Drive : Yes
  4. Partition Setting :
    Remove all partitions on selected drives and create default layout.
    Review and modify partitioning layout
  5. Create Partition :
    Hard Drives : /dev/sda
     /dev/sda1/bootext31024MBFixed sizeForce to be a primary partition
     /dev/sda2/ext3467196MBFixed sizeForce to be a primary partition
     /dev/sda3swap8192MBFixed sizeForce to be a primary partition
  6. Boot Loader Setting :
    The GRUB boot loader will be installed on /dev/sda
    Default, CentOS, /dev/sda2
  7. Network Setting :
    eth0 : Manual configuration
    Enable IPv4
    Disable IPv6
    Active on Boot
    IP Address/Subnet : XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX/XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
    Hostname : xxx.xxx.xxx
    Gateway : XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
    Primary DNS : XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
  8. Timezone Setting : Asia/Tokyo, uncheck System clock uses UTC
  9. Root Acount : xxxxxxxx
  10. Choose Install Packages : Server, Customize now

  • Re-set Hard Drive booting in BIOS setting
